New WHS Staff Member
In October of 2004, Leanne Belsham joined the Western Heritage Services staff in the Saskatoon office. Leanne completed her Bachelor of Arts with Honours at Brandon University and did her Master of Arts degree at the University of Saskatchewan. She has archaeological experience in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. Leanne will be working primarily with our clients in Saskatchewan.

New AWH Office in Grande Prairie, AB
In July of 2004 Gregory Kwiecien moved from Western Heritage Services in Saskatoon to Alberta Western Heritage in Grande Prairie, AB. Over the winter of 2004-2005 Alberta Western Heritage plans to set up a permanent office in Grande Prairie to better serve our clients in the Alberta Peace region. Stay tuned for more developments.

New AWH Staff Member
In May of 2004 Alberta Western Heritage added a new staff member to the St. Albert Office. Riel Cloutier  received his B.A. from the University of Winnipeg and his M.A. from the University of Saskatchewan. He has worked for several years doing archaeological surveys in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and now Alberta. Riel will be working mainly with Darryl Bereziuk assisting clients in Northern Alberta.

New Staff Member

The spring of 2002 has been very busy in terms of the number of heritage resource inspections required for the petroleum industry and we apologize to any clients who have experienced delays. Major delays have also resulted from the Saskatchewan Heritage Branch moving from Municipal Government to Culture, Youth and Recreation. In order to ensure that we meet the needs of our clients in a timely manner we have added one new staff archaeologist, Grzegorz Kwiecien. Gregory has a M.A. from Jagiellonski University, in Krakow, Poland.

Annual Updates of the Listing

For the second year running, Alberta Community Development (ACD) has issued an update of the Listing of Significant Historical Sites and Areas. They have indicated that this will be updated annually—available approximately March and in use by EUB and ACD by April 1. Each update will reflect the changing knowledge about historical resources in the province and where they are located. ACD has no immediate plans for putting the Listing on the internet...
