Western Heritage Services Inc. is a private company with
offices located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; Calgary, St. Albert, and
Grande Prairie, Alberta. For over a decade, our staff have been
involved in hundreds of heritage studies throughout Canada. We are
incorporated in Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia.
We are registered as heritage consultants in the Yukon and Western
Ontario. We have also completed international assignments in Southeast
Asia.
Western Heritage Services Inc. was incorporated in 1990. The
decision to create the premier heritage company in western Canada was
driven by a recognition that the needs for specialized heritage
services were growing, and that these needs could no longer be met by
existing consultants.
The staff include experienced specialists in every area of heritage
studies: historic and precontact archaeology, project management,
Geographic Information Systems (GIS), predictive modeling, archival
research, oral history, land claims and traditional land use, artifact
cataloguing and analysis, specialized software development, computer
graphics and desktop publishing, public education and interpretation.
Alberta Western Heritage was started in 1999 with
the purpose of better serving existing Western Heritage Services
forestry clients working in northern Alberta and oil and gas clients
working in southern Alberta. Our goal since that time has been to help
our clients maintain compliance with the Alberta Historical Resources
Act in an affordable and efficient manner through the use of Heritage
Potential Modeling, our CRICS process, and field reconnaissance. In the
last five years we have worked in Alberta on heritage resource
management, archaeological excavations, traditional land use studies,
predictive modeling, and public education and interpretation.
