HRIAS
Development in the form of oil well, road construction and reservoir creation can have destructive effects on the environment and the archaeological resources they contain. Many types of development may be required to by government to perform a Heritage Resources Impact Assessment (HRIA) before development can proceed. Western Heritage Services' experienced staff are on call 365 days of the year and can carry out HRIAs on a timely basis. If sites are located, we can recommend alternative courses of action that will minimize delays and expenses for the developer.
HERITAGE MANAGEMENT
Heritage management means incorporating heritage concerns into the planning process, both to minimize the loss of heritage resources and to care for those that remain. Western Heritage Services specializes in management services such as custom Geographic Information Systems(GIS), predictive modeling, oral history, archaeological and archival research. We can help communities document and manage their heritage resources-to expand their heritage tourism potential and to strengthen community roots. We can also work with developers to anticipate government demands for HRIAs, and assist them in managing their heritage concerns.
HERITAGE RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT
The development of heritage sites for tourism or educational purposes requires careful planning and accurate and ethical interpretation. We can assist community or heritage groups in assessing the significance if sites, obtaining grants, planning developments, and completing heritage initiatives.
